Extremely high resolution and linearity accuracies are the result of exceptionally long Kohlrauch resistance elements and special production techniques. All Series HP potentiometers feature identical construction, unit height, mounting pilots, shaft designs and terminal arrangements. This permits ganging of different diameter HP Series units around a common shaft in almost limitless combinations.

To insure maximum resolution and linearity, optimum resistance element mandrel diameters and resistance wire combinations are selected for all resistance values. Lower unit torque is achieved through use of finer resistance wires and increased pitches.

All units are completely enclose and can be used as single or multiple ganged units. Ganging is accomplished by interlocking surfaces rigidly secured by threaded tie rods. Housings are one piece, molded of glass reinforced thermosetting materials. Precision turned, blue Alumilite finish aluminum end plates seal both ends of the housing. Stainless steel topped inserts provide high strength mounting threads.

Phasing is accomplished in two ways: Individual housings may be staggered in 90° increments, or contact brushes can be independently phase in various relationships if end and collector terminals must remain in alignment . End and tap connections are welded to a single turn. Any practical number of taps can be provided.

Precious metal brush, collector and welded taps, together with hard gold plated terminals and slip slip rings are standard design features on all models.
