Versatile Configurations
Sleeve
and Ball Bearing Linear and Nonlinear
These
high precision, external phasing potentiometers are completely self-conntained
and suitable for use as single or multiple section units without
special shafts or other specialized construction. Two types are
available: Sleeve bearing C-200 or ball bearing BC-200. Additional
performance characteristics of the ball bearing model include lower
starting and running torque, improved linearity because of reduced
radial shaft play, minimized backlash between ganged potentiometer
sections for more accurate function repetition or solution of mathematical
equations.
Ganging
is accomplished on the job by novel drive pin and spring tension
pickup combinations which are supplied with each potentiometer.
Accurate mating surfaces permit precise ganging of multiple units.
One piece stainless steel clamp equipped servo mounting plates are
available for servo or three-hole mounting.
Precise
360-degree external phasing permits independent rotation of each
ganged potentiometer for accurate individual or related adjustment
even after installation.
An
exclusive feature of this series is a one-piece molded insulation.
Terminal board, tap mounting ring and al internal insulating surfaces
are molded directly into precision machined aluminum housing. Unit
terminals are permanently cored into position with molded identification
numerals. This technique provides a complete insulating envelope
inside the housing without joints or interruptions, and eliminates
all possible leakage paths. The one-piece molded interior also provides
better concentricity than individual fabricated strips, resulting
in more uniform wiper pressures, improved linearity and operational
life.
Models C-200-E and BC-200-E with 180° terminal board are available.
The extended terminal board increases the area between tap terminals
and provides space for mounting shunts and resistors directly to
the potentiometer body without additional wiring or space consuming
auxiliary resistor panels.

SINGLE SHAFT AND DOUBLE SHAFT UNITS AVAILABLE
C-200 SINGLE HOLE MOUNTING
Single
hole mounting for direct connection to a panel or bracket is accomplished
with an extended threaded bushing is accomplished with an extended
threaded bushing passing through the structural member. When a precise
reference location must be maintained, a non-turn pin can be supplied
for this purpose. Internal tooth lockwashers and hexagon locknuts
are standard mounting hardware ( specify model C-200-P)
UNIVERSAL
SERVO MOUNTING ADAPTERS
Universal servo mounting adapters provide positive three-screw fastening
to a panel or gear box, or direct connection to a servo drive. Adapter
plates have individual shafts, bearing and pickup couplings for
direct connection to the drive pin end of the potentiometer. Servo
mounting adopters feature a precision machined locating hub and
are supplied with stainless steel clamp rings.
NONLINEAR
FUNCTIONS
The C-200 and BC-200 design readily lends itself to nonlinear functions.
Moderate slopes are possible by shaping the card, or space winding
on straight sided cards. More severe slopes are obtained by combining
these tow methods. Adding wire diameter changes makes it possible
to accomplish extreme slopes. One feature of these models is the
application of sine-cosine functions. High accuracy is possible
with the precision shaped cards and space winding. Two independent
functions are accomplished by insulated collectors and brushes phased
90° apart. Nonlinear potentiometers can be ganged with linear
or other nonlinear functions to achieve additional outputs from
a single shaft movement.
